class="indent">Ornament and pine</div><br
/>I am searching for an expression of form beyond the modernist ideals of logic and rationality. I have chosen to work with two of the black sheep of design, ornament and pine, both of which have been banned since the 1970s, also within the current routine type of modernism. <br

/> Ornament in my world is an expression for irrationality, dreams and feelings – which I think that we need to affirm. Pine has a complex cultural history in Sweden as a low-status material. To me it represents an entertaining challenge to be able to see this material in another light and to try and raise its status, gain access for it to the drawing-room, so to speak. <br

/> Time is an important factor in my works. I want the objects that I design to age graciously and to have an expressivity of form that can hold its own for a long time. <br
/><br
/> I have created these pieces of furniture for strong, amusing individuals, with the thought in mind that in the same way that we shape our rooms, the rooms eventually will shape us.<br

/> Jag är på jakt efter ett formuttryck bortom de modernistiska idealen om logik och rationalitet. Jag har valt att arbeta med två av formgivningens svarta får, furu och ornament, som varit bannlysta efter 70-talet samt inom den rådande slentrianmodernismen. <br

Her friend Marcus avoids the risk of an allergic reaction to certain food. He cooks everything he eats by himself and packs his own lunchbox every day. He must eat from his lunchbox even when in a restaurant or a business meeting, which has occasionally caused him to be seen as a rude or senseless person.  Ami has redesigned this lunchbox and used it to highlight the risk that Marcus is exposed to in a positive way so that it becomes a source of constructive dialogue between himself and the people who are ignorant about his allergic condition. Does this redesigned lunchbox, by becoming attractive, stimulate communication while avoiding risk, integrating him in spite of his unusual etiquette? Or does it emphasize his marginal condition thus becoming a source of further discrimination?<br

/> In my investigation I have taken an interest in images of trauma and pictures from catastrophes. During a catastrophe, pictures become important as a way of creating meaning, understanding and order in the midst of chaos. <br

/> I have categorised representations of the storm known as Gudrun in order to see how they are staged and dramatised in the media, and to see how one can apprehend patterns and repetitions from catastrophes in a wider perspective. <br

/>All too often, industrial design has as its starting point a consumer perspective that is also a human perspective. But there is a world within design development that is often forgotten. <br

/> In my degree project I want to improve the situation for those who clearly have a lower rank in the community: cows who give milk.  It is of value to reinforce the possibility of these animals to live well in a world run by human beings.  If animals can enjoy a better life – do we humans not benefit from that too?<br

In order to change developments we must start thinking about our living habits and what we eat.   We regard it as a challenge to defy this development prophecy!

/>In the summer of 1896, thirty-seven men, women and children left their home district in Nås in Dalarna and travelled to Jerusalem to wait for the return of Jesus. In Jerusalem they joined the nonconformist sect American Colony. Selma Lagerlöf was inspired to write her book Jerusalem based on this story. A story that reflects a society in a state of radical transformation. <br
/><br
/> I have explored places mentioned in Lagerlöf’s book, and seen what is happening there today. People live their lives in an environment filled with threat. My title refers to the Greek poet Konstantinos P. Kavafis’ poem about waiting for an invasion, the invasion that never comes. <br

/> American Colony now owns an elegant hotel to accommodate journalists and politicians, Israeli as well as Palestinian. The Damaskus Gate is threatened with closure. Walls of gold and gates of burnt glass. Jaffa in its silver-white light, where the seaspray continues spurt up over the black rocks.<br

/> Sommaren 1896 lämnade 37 män, kvinnor och barn sin hembygd Nås i Dalarna och reste till Jerusalem för att invänta Jesu återkomst. I Jerusalem anslöt de sig till den frireligiösa sekten American Colony. Selma Lagerlöf inspirerades till att skriva boken Jerusalem utifrån historien. En berättelse som speglar ett samhälle i stark omvandling. <br

/>A video installation by Anna Lidberg about manipulation of the past—to allow one’s self to be childish and nostalgic and about what happens when the participants in an art project get to comment on their own participation. <br

/> In my work I touch upon questions about nostalgia. How it affects us, what it is that makes us nostalgic and what occurs in situations where a bulk of people from the same society feel nostalgic about the same things, events, objects or phenomenon. <br

/> I use nostalgia as a material and a tool and I think of it as a disease, a state, an obsession, a feeling, a subject, a story, a question for interpretation, a taboo, a longing or a way to lure people into matters about something completely different.<br
